This is is part A of a two part series on the First Oxford Company. In part A we discuss some of the greatest minds among the translators, one of them so well versed in antique languages he rivals the skills of the grand Lancelot Andrewes himself. We find that some of the better scholars on the First Oxford’s panel were chosen by the Anglican hierarchy for their skills despite the fact that they were Puritans.
